The S&P 500 fell 0.36% to 1,945.75 in afternoon trading Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.40% to 16,877.50, while the Nasdaq was down 0.11% to 4,333.14.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond fell 0.23% to 2.63%.
The price of gold was up 0.17% to $1,262.30.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine-based medical device maker Edwards Lifesciences Corp. was up 1.67% to $82.01 for a market value of about $8.68 billion. JMP Securities upgraded the stock to “outperform” from “market perform” and set a $97 price target.
RESTAURANTS
Huntington Beach-based casual dining chain BJ’s Restaurants Inc. was up 1.37% to $35.48 and a market value of about $1.01 billion. Oppenheimer Holdings Inc. raised its share price target to $40 from $30, reiterated an “outperform” rating and raised earnings projections for the company for 2014 and 2015.
