Fully equipped gyms, home movie theaters, and kitchens with commercial-grade appliances are almost a given in today’s luxury homes. Even indoor pools and elaborate wine rooms have become somewhat commonplace. And guesthouses are simply a bonus—in fact, there are 45 luxury homes on the market that boast a guesthouse among their selling points.
So what are some of the most unusual features Orange County luxury homes offer? Using data gleaned from Redfin and Trulia, we found the next level of luxury amenities:
• Personal pubs—for $13 million, you can buy a Laguna Beach home with all your favorite beers on tap. A $10.6 million residence in Newport Beach offers a similar good time right under a lucky buyer’s new roof.
• Indoor hair salons—an $11 million home in Laguna Beach and a $5.4 million home in Newport Beach will keep your beauty routine a secret.
• 12 or more car garages—because why ever drive the same car twice? A $55 million—yes, you read that right—Laguna Beach home lists that feature among its long list of amenities, as does a more modestly priced $8.5 million home in Coto De Caza.
• Complete indoor playgrounds—why traipse down to the local park to play when you can do all the swinging and sliding you want right inside your own home? You can find plenty of indoor recreation at two Laguna Beach homes, one listed at $6 million, the other at $7 million, as well as in a Newport Beach home listed for $4.5 million.
• Massage rooms—an $8 million Irvine home and a $4.1 million North Tustin home both offer a place to enjoy utter relaxation without a trip to town.
• Yoga rooms—peace and serenity are serious stuff at two area homes listed at $5 million. One is in North Tustin, the other in Yorba Linda.
• Indoor nightclub—a Newport Beach home currently on the market for $7.5 million offers the excitement of local nightlife.
