Twin Points, a 2.28-acre oceanfront property at 1101 Marine Drive in Laguna Beach, recently set a record $45 million Orange County home sale price, though off its original June list price of $75 million. The transaction closed on Feb. 2, represented on both the seller’s and buyer’s sides by luxury homes specialist Rob Giem of HÔM Sotheby’s International Realty.
The previous record was set in 2008 when the oceanfront estate at 2692 Bayshore Drive in Newport Beach, owned at the time by actor Nicholas Cage, sold for $35 million. Steve High and Evan Corkett of Villa Real Estate were the listing agents, according to news reports.
Giem also represented the sale of the third highest sales price of an Orange County home when an Italianate palazzo at 2495 Riviera Drive in Irvine Cove in Laguna Beach sold in 2013 for $33 million.
Twin Points was christened such because its 1,400 feet of waterfront property includes two headlands that extend hundreds of feet into the ocean. Between them is a private sandy cove accessible only from the property.
Behind Twin Points’ private gates are a motor court, a Polynesian-themed main residence, and a guest house. Tropical gardens and specimen palms surround the home, and a swimming pool and terraces complement the setting.
