Growth in the U.S. services sector rose in December, although employment declined slightly, according to a survey published on Wednesday. The Institute for Supply Management’s non-manufacturing index rose to 63.1 in December from 61.3 in November, above Wall Street’s median estimate of 61. A number above 50 indicates growth in the sector, which accounts for about 80 percent of the U.S. economy.
