Triconix moves to larger quarters in the Spectrum

Triconex Corp., an Irvine-based supplier of industrial automation and control systems that’s part of Britain’s Invensys PLC, has moved to a larger building within the Irvine Spectrum.

The company’s new site is 85,000 square feet, up from 50,000 square feet of space at Triconex’s former location in Irvine’s Phoenix Business Park. Triconex employs 160 people in Orange County, with tentative plans to grow its workforce 10% in the next year.

“After 10 years in our facility, we simply grew past its limits,” said Triconex president Kevin McGlensey.

The move gives Triconex a 30% growth in manufacturing and warehousing space and a 25% increase in research and development space, including laboratories.

Triconex’s products include advanced control systems and networks for automating industrial plants and controlling the environments of buildings. The company also designs and makes electronic devices and controls found in residential buildings and commercial applications, plus complete power systems for the telecommunications and technology companies.

The new space has five major conference rooms for customer training and 12 enclave meeting rooms for business visitors.

“We increased the facilities that we’re offering for manufacturing, customer training and engineering,” said Roy Aldridge, vice president sales and marketing. “We have a lot of new products as well as products in development.”

Besides more room, the new headquarters have an upgraded telephone service and customer support response line, plus cabling for a high-speed computer network. Triconex employees will have a 720-square-foot fitness center.

About 60% of Triconex’s business is outside the U.S. Clients include some of largest petroleum companies, such as France’s Elf, Chevron Corp. and Royal Dutch/Shell Group. n
