Tourism Officials Honored
Officials from the Disneyland Resort, Knott’s Berry Farm and South Coast Plaza were among those honored last month by the Orange County Tourism Council.
Awards were presented in five categories, plus an overall award,the Walter Knott Award,and a special Chairman’s Award.
Categories included: accommodations, attractions, restaurants, retail and shopping centers and transportation.
The Walter Knott Award was given to the person deemed to have provided the overall best service in 2001. The Chairman’s Award was presented to longtime tourism industry officials Jack Lindquist and Bill Snyder.
Other winners and their awards were:
Lori Grimsley, Disneyland Resort, accommodations; Dawn Nadeau, Disneyland Resort, attractions; Mike Ali, Zack’s Pier Plaza, restaurants; John Crippen, South Coast Plaza, retail/shopping centers; Barbara Vind, John Wayne Airport, transportation; Dana Hammontree, Knott’s Berry Farm, Walter Knott Award.
Chairman’s Award winner Lindquist is the retired president of Disneyland who spent 40 years with the Walt Disney Co. Snyder, who also took home the Chairman’s Award, is the retired president and chief executive officer of the Anaheim Area Visitor & Convention Bureau who spearheaded growth in the county’s convention industry.
