Tech Networking Group Sets First Event

A new networking group, Digital Orange County, which is targeting those who work in the technology industry, is launching its first event Wednesday Aug. 2 at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana.

The organization, created by Orange County Ad Club members Billy Fried and Denise Denison-Erkeneff, plans to hold quarterly events, monthly mixers, sponsor a newsletter and host a job board.

Fried, an advertising executive at Doner in Newport Beach, said the organization wants to elevate OC to the status of other tech communities such as Silicon Valley.

“We are home to technology giants Broadcom and Conexant, yet there is a perception that we trail other tech communities in vitality,” Fried said.

The DigiTrip party, expected to draw about 1,000, will showcase Orange County’s technology offerings with booths, a video wall and demonstrations. Founding sponsors include Engage, Newsweek, MYOC.com, the OC Business Journal, OC POST, Radical Mail and Primary Color.
