St. John Makes Home Loan to CEO

Irvine-based women’s clothier St. John Knits International Inc. said it loaned Chief Executive Richard Cohen and his wife $2 million to buy a home in California.

The company didn’t say where the home is. The loan is slated to be paid back by June 2006 or whenever the Cohens sell their New York home.

Cohen came to St. John in August from the U.S. arm of Italy’s Gruppo Ermenegildo Zegna, a maker of men’s clothes.

In November, St. John’s former co-presidents, Bruce Fetter and Kelly Gray, daughter of the company’s founders and its signature model, lost their titles. Fetter retains his position as chief operating officer, while Gray is creative director.
