A pair of Orange County business software companies saw their shares climb higher Wednesday after reporting better-than-expected results for the second quarter.
Costa Mesa-based data management software maker FileNet Corp. posted adjusted net earnings of $11.1 million in the second quarter, up 28% from the year-ago period. Analysts were expecting earnings of about $10.1 million.
FileNet’s sales were up 12% to $117.1 million from a year earlier. Analysts expected sales of $111.6 million.
Shares of the company, which reported before the stock markets opened, rose more than 6% Wednesday.
Irvine-based Epicor Software Corp. recorded adjusted earnings of $11.2 million in the period, a 27% increase from a year ago, excluding one-time tax gains, among other things. That beat expectations of some $9.9 million.
Epicor posted record sales of $99.5 million, up 40% from a year earlier, largely on gains from its acquisition of Newburgh, N.Y.-based CRS Retail Systems Inc. late last year.
Analysts expected sales of $93.9 million.
Epicor also raised its full-year sales guidance by 1.6% to $378 million to $383 million. Profit is seen about 3% higher than a prior estimate.
Epicor, which makes accounting and other software that merges data from production, distribution, sales, marketing and customer support, saw its shares rise 2.5% in afterhours trading.
