The Evening at the Oscars fundraiser for the Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center raised more than $100,000 in support of the center’s child abuse and teen pregnancy prevention programs. Nearly 400 guests attended the event, which was held at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa. Meanwhile, more than 120 golfers at Strawberry Farms golf course in Irvine raised $35,000 at the Second Annual Golf Classic for the Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center, which has served more than 123,000 Orange County residents in the past 20 years. Key event sponsors were: Washington Mutual Inc., First American Title Armstrong/Robitaille Insurance. Other sponsors included Western Digital Corp., Hyundai Motor America Inc. and Roger Dunn Golf Shops, among others.

The Orange County High School of the Arts’ annual gala, The Roaring Twenties and All That Jazz, raised $300,000 to support the school’s arts and conservatory programs. More than 700 guests attended the event. Since 1989, the annual event has raised nearly $2 million for the school.

Six hundred walkers and runners participated in the City of Hope’s inaugural Orange County Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer. The walk raised more than $75,000 for breast cancer research.

Santa Ana-based Think Together, which operates 12 after-school learning centers for tutoring and mentoring, received a $20,000 donation from Wells Fargo & Co. The donation will allow Think to support and sustain its volunteer recruitment, program and curriculum development and resources and materials management.

The grand opening of the Claim Jumper in South Coast Plaza raised more than $20,000 for the Queen of Hearts Foundation, an organization that raises funds for ovarian cancer. More than 500 people attended the event.

Fletcher Jones Motorcars, in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz USA, kicked off a breast cancer fundraising drive. A portion of the proceeds generated through the sale of a special edition CLK Cabriolet will go to 60 national and local breast cancer charities. Fletcher Jones also mounted a 12-foot pink symbolic ribbon at the dealership in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The PacifiCare Foundation, a philanthropic organization founded by Cypress-based PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., awarded a $10,000 grant to Good Shepherd Communities, which serves 125 residents of Orange County with developmental disabilities. The grant will be used for medical issues facing 54 of the organization’s clients in the county.

R.J. Noble Co., an asphalt paving and engineering contractor in Orange, pledged to build and pave the parking lot of the Orange Main Library. The work is valued at $100,000. The Young Adult Room of the library has been named the R.J. Noble Company Young Adult Room in honor of the contribution.
