ARCHITECTURE

Jason Briscoe was named president of the American Institute of Architects, Orange County. Briscoe is an associate at Rossetti Architects in Newport Beach. He has more than 14 years of architectural experience.

Irvine-based gkkworks hired B Ashok as an associate principal. Ashok has 28 years of architectural experience including work in France and Canada. He previously was a senior project manager at Perkowitz + Ruth in Long Beach.

International Parking Design in Irvine promoted Dominic Soliven, Mel Bernardo and Pam Jimenez. Soliven became vice president of production. Bernardo was promoted to job captain and Jimenez was named office administrator.

AUTOMOTIVE

Takao Oishi was named president and chief executive of Yokohama Tire Corp. in Fullerton. Oishi joined the company last year as executive vice president. He previously was president of Yokohama Europe in Germany.

CONSTRUCTION

Swinerton Builders in Irvine made several promotions at its Irvine office. Tom Bethmann was promoted from senior project manager to business development manager. Greg Hurlock was named chief estimator. Mike Pulley was promoted from senior project manager and project executive to operations manager. Jerry Mejia was named operations manager and Rick Vaughn became project manager of concrete operations.

CONSULTING

Map Consulting hired Kathie Julian as senior consultant and Alysia Nealon as account manager at its Newport Beach office.

EDUCATION

Dianna Lopez Fisher was named executive director of alumni relations at California State University, Fullerton. Fisher was previously associate executive director of the University of California, Irvine’s alumni association.

EMPLOYMENT

Orange-based Roth Staffing Cos. added Terry Murphy as managing director of its legal placement division, Adams & Martin Group. Murphy previously was with the Kelly Law Registry division as vice president of operations.

FINANCE

Jon Prussel joined Garden Grove-based Informative Research as senior vice president of national sales. Prussel previously was area sales manager for Bear Stearns Cos. He has held sales and account management positions with mortgage lending companies in California and Arizona.

HOSPITALITY

Newport Coast’s Resort at Pelican Hill added Paul Ruffino, George Nickels, Jean Pierre Dubray and Kasia Mays to its staff. Ruffino was named director of sales and is president of the Orange County Film Commission. Nickels became director of weddings. He was associate director of catering at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. Executive Chef Dubray comes from The Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. Mays was named spa director.

LAW

Javier Rivera-Carbone and Shadie Berenji joined the Irvine office of Fisher & Phillips LLP as of counsel and associate, respectively. Both handle employment-related legal issues.

Ralph E. “Skip” Balfour joined Jackson DeMarco Tidus Petersen Peckenpaugh in Irvine as senior counsel. Balfour was a founding partner of Balfour McDonald & Olmstead. Dana Ingrassia joined the firm as an associate in the complex litigation group. Ingrassia recently worked for Hollins Schecter.

NONPROFIT

Jay Blakslee was named board president of HomeAid OC. Blakslee is one of the organization’s founders and served on the original steering committee in 1988. He is also principal and owner of Blakslee Cos. Blakslee has been on the board of directors of the Building Association of Southern California.

The March of Dimes California chapter named Scott Stowell chair for the 2008 March for Babies. Stowell is chief operating officer of Standard Pacific Homes in Irvine.

TECHNOLOGY

Irvine-based Sendio Inc. named Kevin Bowyer chief executive. Bowyer recently was president and chief executive of Cogent Global Services. He was also president of U.S. sales for Mitel Networks Corp. He also worked for Nortel Networks Corp.
