ARCHITECTURE

Darla Callahan has been named managing director of the Newport Beach office of Gensler Architecture, Design & Planning of Newport Beach. She has been vice president at Gensler since 2000 and is a member of the firm’s global accounts taskforce.

Thomas P Cox Architects Inc. of Irvine has hired Dat Vu as the firm’s job captain. Vu will be responsible for assisting and coordinating project architects in construction details, elevations and sectional drawing. Paul Fulbright also has joined Cox as a designer. He will work as a team designer and provide graphic support to the senior design team.

IA Interior Architects has appointed Brian M. Koshley managing director of the Costa Mesa office. He has 16 years experience in design and management of corporate interior environments for both public and private sector clients. He previously was a principal at Howard Sneed Architecture and Design in San Diego.

AUTOMOTIVE

Mark J. Hallsman was named president and chief executive of MotorVac Technologies Inc., a Santa Ana-based manufacturer of professional fluid management and diagnostic systems for the automotive industry. Hallsman joined MotorVac as senior vice president of marketing in August 2001.

BANKING

Steven L. Hollstein has been appointed executive vice president and chief credit officer of CommerceWest Bank of Newport Beach. Hollstein previously was vice president and chief credit officer at Marine National Bank. He will be responsible for overseeing overall credit at the bank.

Investment banking firm RSM EquiCo in Costa Mesa has appointed Gary Green director of buyer development. Green has more than 20 years experience and specializes in mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and corporate finance. He previously worked in the mergers and acquisitions group at KPMG Peat Marwick as a managing director.

Scott Kipers, Washington Mutual first vice president and senior regional manager, has been appointed to oversee operations and sales activities of 24 branches in South Orange County. Kipers has been a senior regional manager at Washington Mutual since 1998.

EDUCATION

Concordia University in Irvine hired Joseph Bordeaux as associate dean for the School of Education as a member of the education faculty. His responsibilities will include managing the graduate study programs. Bordeaux was a principal of Washington Lutheran School in St. Louis before his appointment to Concordia.

FINANCE

Santa Ana-based Safeco Financial Institution Solutions, part of Seattle’s Safeco Corp., has appointed Kelly Riley vice president of human resources. She has been with Safeco 17 years. Riley is responsible for human re-sources strategies, practices and planning in support of the company’s business. She also will oversee HR programs and personnel at the company’s regional service centers in Santa Ana and Latham, N.Y.

LAW

Tim Paone has become a partner with the Orange County office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. Paone will head the Manatt service arm, Manatt Consulting, which offers entitlement management and strategic planning services as well as governmental relations support.

MARKETING

Mark Hayes has been appointed senior graphics designer at the Peterson Group Inc. in Newport Beach. He will be responsible for creating design concepts including corporate branding, direct marketing programs, package design, brochure design and the creation of Web graphics for client marketing programs.

NONPROFIT

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County promoted Mark Pilon to president and chief executive. Pilon joined Make-A-Wish in 2000 as chief operating officer. The Make-A-Wish Foundation works to grant wishes,such as trips and meetings,of children with life-threatening illness.

REAL ESTATE

Lowe Enterprises, a real estate investment firm, added real estate executive Al Beaudette as a senior vice president. He will lead the firm’s Irvine-based corporate service group, which provides development, strategic consulting, investment and management services.

Voit Development Co. has hired James Camp as senior vice president of development and acquisitions. Working in Voit’s Newport Beach office, Camp will be responsible for finding development and acquisition opportunities in Orange County and the Inland Empire. Camp was a vice president at Lowe Enterprises.

TECHNOLOGY

Toshiba Computer Systems Group appointed Michael L. Wakeman vice president of marketing and e-commerce for the Irvine group’s transactional business unit. Wakeman will be responsible for strategic planning and overall marketing direction for the unit along with leading Toshiba’s direct sales efforts including Shop Toshiba, the group’s online marketing business.

Lawrence Webster was named vice president of sales for Permlight Products of Tustin. Webster was Western area sales manager of Microsemi Corp. for three years.
