ARCHITECTURE

Mark Pekarek, associate at Pekarek Crandell Inc. of San Juan Capistrano, received his architecture license from the California Architects Board, a division of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. He oversees design and site planning for the firm.

Chistopher Rost and Anthony Fiorentino have been appointed senior designer and director of production, respectively for the architectural firm Houston-based Meek + Partners Inc.’s Newport Beach office.

Irvine-based architectural and land planning firm Danielian Associates Inc. tapped Brian Miller as senior associate.

BANKING

Frank P. Greinke joined Sunwest Bank’s board of directors. He is chief executive of Orange-based Southern Counties Oil Co. and a director of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America.

DENTAL

PMI Dental Health Plan, an affiliate of Delta Dental Plan of Cerritos, appointed Philip Runnoe its vice president of finance and information systems. He will continue to serve as PMI’s controller.

ENGINEERING

Dan Terres joined Tustin-based Pacific Soils Engineering Inc. as a project manager and engineering geologist.

John Thornton of Costa Mesa-based Psomas & Associates was appointed a principal of the firm. Thornton has been at Psomas for seven years and leads the water resources team.

FINANCE

Maureen F. Gallogly joined Stein Roe Investment Counsel LLC. She will work out of the Newport Beach office as a senior portfolio manager and team executive.

Eric Inglett and Pete Peterson, both registered representatives at Edward Jones in OC were named principals with the firm’s holding company, Jones Financial Cos.

GOVERNMENT

The Orange County Transportation Authority named Ellen Burton its new general manager of the 91 Express Lanes toll road.

LAW

Los Angeles-based Sheppard Mullin elected two of its attorneys to partnership. Brian Daucher was elevated to partner in the business trial practice group and the intellectual property practice group in OC. Frank Johnson, who also works in the intellectual property practice group in Del Mar, also was elected.

REAL ESTATE

Joan Marcus-Colvin was appointed design studio director for the luxury group of John Laing Homes of Newport Beach.

Grubb & Ellis Commer-cial Real Estate Services has appointed Eric Michel associate vice president with the retail group in Newport Beach. He will be responsible for leasing and sales.

Also, Grubb & Ellis named David E. Bui vice president with its office group in Anaheim. Bui will be responsible for representing landlords, tenants and investors in office space sales.

RETAIL

J.R. Means III of Bayport Yachts Sales in Newport Beach was elected director of region 10 for 2003 at the Marine Retailers Association of America at the group’s annual meeting in Las Vegas.

SERVICES

Enterprise Rent-A-Car promoted OC executive Howard Zaroff to Southern California division vice president. He will oversee rental operations in OC, San Diego County and the eastern San Gabriel Valley. His previous job, overseeing Enterprise facilities in North OC and eastern Los Angeles County, will be assumed by Gary Behm.

TOURISM

The Costa Mesa Conference & Visitor Bureau has announced a new board of directors. New board president is Joe DeDio, general manager of Holiday Inn Costa Mesa. Tom Smalley, general manager Wyndham Orange County Airport Hotel, was named vice president. Mike Hall, general manager of the Westin South Coast Plaza, has been selected treasurer. Richard Ham, general manager of Hilton Costa Mesa, will become board secretary. Other board member include Stephanie Long-Mack, Cara Marshall Bryan, and Donna Walp. City Manager Allen Roeder represents the city council. Diane Pritchett is the executive director.

TRANSPORTATION

The Motorcycle Industry Council appointed Larry Little, vice president and publisher of Cycle World magazine, as chairman of its board of directors. Little has served as vice chair of the board.
