ACCOUNTING

Scott Grierson, Jim Jimenez, Tim Hufler and Lee Welborn joined the Irvine office of Grant Thornton LLP, an accounting, tax and business advisory company. Grierson was hired as a principal in the state and local tax practice. Jimenez joined as a partner in the business advisory services practice. Hufler serves as a senior manger in the economic advisory services practice. Welborn was hired as senior manager for strategic federal tax services and will lead the Southern California cost segregation practice.

ARCHITECTURE

Tracey Hope joined International Parking Design, an architectural company in Irvine, in the business development area. Hope is set to represent the company in Orange and San Diego counties, as well as in the Inland Empire.

MulvanyG2 Architecture, a retail design company, added Chris Perry and Dennis Bonds as senior associates at its Irvine office. Perry and Bonds are responsible for business development and client relations.

Minneapolis-based KKE Architects Inc. added Gary A. Shoeppner as site development coordinator and head of site development services for its Irvine and Pasadena offices.

ASSOCIATIONS

The Orange County Business Council appointed three members to its board: Michael Hornak, managing partner of Rutan & Tucker LLP; Robert Cole, chief executive of New Century Financial Corp.; and Robert Ghirelli, director of technical services for the Orange County Sanitation District.

Richard Marshack, founder and of counsel to Foothill Ranch’s Shulman, Hodges & Bastian LLP was elected to the board of the Orange County Bar Association.

EDUCATION

Huntington Beach resident H. E. Durbin joined the board of trustees at Concordia University in Irvine.

EMPLOYMENT

Irvine-based McDermott & Bull Executive Search named Katherine McConnell to vice president and general manager of the McDermott & Bull Executive Network.

INSURANCE

Scott Smith joined Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co., a property and casualty insurer, as a community relations manager based in Irvine.

Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. in Brea, a provider of health insurance for pets, appointed Terry L. Hill to its board.

Andrew J. Valdivia was elected president of White & Co. Insurance Inc., working out of the Santa Monica and Orange offices.

LAW

John M. Leverett and Sonia A. Lister were elected as shareholders in Jackson, DeMarco, Tidus, Peckenpaugh, a real estate and corporate law firm based in Irvine. The firm also named Becky Hsiao and Lana Kraus as associates.

Pierce & Weiss LLP hired Ann McIntire as associate in the subrogation department in the Anaheim office.

Newport Beach-based Newmeyer & Dillion LLP added Adrienne M. Flores and Michael B. McClellan to the real estate transactional practice and Manoosh Shakib to litigation.

MARKETING

Don Shum joined Claremont-based Phoenix Marketing Services, a print marketing and communications company. He will run the Huntington Beach office.

NONPROFIT

Leonard Shulman, managing partner of Shulman, Hodges & Bastian in Foothill Ranch, was named president of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.

Laguna Beach-based Friendship Shelter, an adult homeless rehabilitation program and emergency shelter, added the following members to its board: Joe Ziomek was elected to a second term as president and chairman; founder Colin Henderson rejoined; Illene Glassman was elected to the new position of first vice president and president pro tem; and Bryan Gianesin and Len Israel also were added.

The OC affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation named Sandra Rose director of programs and grants.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

The Costa Mesa office of Desmond McLeish Inc., a public relations agency specializing in economic development and commercial real estate, hired Karen Epperson as account coordinator.

REAL ESTATE

James Tarlton joined Daystar Builders in San Clemente as senior managing partner. Tarlton has 35 years of experience in the construction industry.

Santa Ana-based Triple Net Properties LLC appointed Mathieu Streiff to real estate counsel, where he will provide in-house legal advice for Triple Net’s property acquisitions, management and dispositions. Daniel E. O’Donnell was named managing director, institutional investment programs.

Irvine-based Option One Mortgage Corporation, a mortgage lending unit of H & R; Block Inc., appointed Larry Gilmore to vice president of the newly formed emerging markets department.

Jim Goldman joined Keystone Pacific Property Management Inc., an Irvine-based property management company, as community manager.

SERVICES

Arpin International Group in Anaheim hired Blake Morris as Western regional sales manager. The company helps businesses, military and government units move employees.

TECHNOLOGY

Irvine-based LogicalApps, a maker of software products that allow customers to manage forms, workflows, account generation and audit reporting, appointed Tom Tobin to senior vice president of product development.

Mark Lucas joined Irvine-based MyPrint Corp. as vice president of sales for e-tools.

Santa Ana-based SRS Labs Inc. appointed Ulrich Gottschling to chief financial officer. SRS Labs licenses audio and voice technology that improves the sound of home sound systems, DVD players, car radios, computers and other electronics gear. It also makes chips for the audio markets.
