ACCOUNTING

Michael Gottlieb was named to lead Ernst & Young International’s U.S. restaurant practice. Gottlieb, who has been with Ernst & Young for 17 years, will continue working out of the company’s Irvine office.

ARCHITECTURE

BSW International Inc. named David Bird as managing director for its Irvine office. Bird has 25 years of management and consulting experience in architecture, engineering and construction.

CONSTRUCTION

Carola K. Cherief joined Centex Corp.’s homebuilding unit as director of sales. She will be responsible for Centex Homes’ sales in Orange County and parts of San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles counties. Cherief comes to Centex from KB Home’s Irvine operation, where she served as director of multifamily sales and marketing.

Granite Homes Inc. hired Patrick Donahue as executive vice president in its Irvine operation. Donahue has worked in the homebuilding industry for 14 years.

EDUCATION

Laguna College of Art and Design named four board members: Shirley Rush, chair; Terry Smith, vice chair; Patrick Flanagan, secretary; and Christopher Tower, treasurer. All are Laguna Beach residents.

FINANCE

Tom Keany was named branch manager for the Anaheim office of Crown Capital Securities. He previously served on the Anaheim City Investment Commission as an appointee of the mayor and City Council.

Robin Reed joined South Coast Commercial Bank in Irvine as business development officer. She will specialize in commercial real estate lending for loans $100,000 to $2.5 million. Reed formerly was with Palm Springs-based Reed and Associates, an architecture and development company.

Commerce National Bank appointed Mary D. Miller senior vice president and manager in Fullerton. Miller recently worked as vice president, team leader for Commerce National’s business banking group.

HEALTHCARE

Irvine-based The Sidman Institute named Ramona Field as a practitioner.

LAW

Steven A. Ruben joined Newmeyer & Dillion LLP as a partner in the firm’s Newport Beach office. Prior to joining Newmeyer & Dillion, Ruben was a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he practiced for 15 years. Ruben was Gibson, Dunn’s department coordinator for its worldwide personal tax and estate planning department.

MEDIA

Gear Monkey in Orange hired Jay Antonos as operations manager. Antonos comes from Fox Sports, where he was a post-production manager.

NONPROFIT

Don Kennedy, chairman emeritus of Santa Ana-based First American Corp., and N. Christian Anderson III, publisher and chief executive of The Orange County Register, have joined the Orange County Community Foundation’s board of governors.

Santa Ana’s WisePlace, a housing and rehabilitation program that assists homeless women, elected new board members. They include: Adrianne Geiger-DuMond, principal of the DuMond Group; Martha Ryan, a technology consultant; Jack Baumann, chief operations officer of Ultra-Link; and Janice Young, a graduate of WisePlace’s Steps to Independence program. Meg O’Toole, president of the O’Toole Group, was elected board president. Rebecca M. Learner, senior vice president and compliance officer of Scan Health Plan, was named vice president for fund development.

TECHNOLOGY

Mission Viejo-based Foundstone Inc. named Mark Curphey as director of consulting and Matthew Adams as director of government operations. Before joining Foundstone, Curphey was director of information security for Charles Schwab Corp. Most recently, Adams was vice president of federal government sales for Saba Software Inc., where he led the public sector division.
