Banking & Finance

Balboa Capital, Irvine, named Bradley Kissler executive vice president of sales and Charles R. Wolf director of information systems. The company provides financial services for the acquisition of business equipment.

Human Resources

Steven U. Parker joined LeadersOnline, an Irvine-based subsidiary of Heidrick & Struggles International, as vice president of finance.

Jeanne Cranford joined IA of Costa Mesa as project director. The 25-year industry veteran was formerly founder and principal of Andra Design Associates.

Usha Jain, co-owner of United Printing & Mailing in Santa Ana, was appointed to the first Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board. Jain is one of 33 members selected for the board.

Insurance

Marsh appointed John Moreno as its senior vice president to lead the Newport Beach office’s employee benefits practice for the Orange County and Inland Empire markets.

SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Brokerage named David J. Kummer an account executive specializing in middle-market commercial accounts. Kummer was previously with Tegner-Miller Insurance Brokers of Santa Monica.

Joyce Chambers joined Heritage General Agency, Laguna Hills, as senior underwriter. Previously with Hull & Co. in Newport Beach, Chambers has 20 years of industry experience.

Law.

Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi; LLP named David M. Smithson an associate in its Orange County/Costa Mesa office.

James “Kimo” McCormick was named of counsel at the Irvine office of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory LLP. For the past 10 years, McCormick was in private practice in Newport Beach.

Levin & Hawes, Laguna Beach, added attorney Randall L. Reed to its staff. Reed’s focus is patent litigation.

Steven M. Muldowney joined the Irvine office of Cox, Castle & Nicholson LLP as a senior associate. Muldowney works in the firm’s lodging and leisure practice group and specializes in the areas of resort, land development, subdivision and timeshare litigation.

Michael E. Packard joined the Miller Law Firm, Newport Beach, as chief operating officer. Packard was formerly president and CEO of Chaney, Brooks & Co. in Hawaii.

Nossaman Guthner Knox & Elliot named Scott DeVries its new managing partner. DeVries is a civil litigator specializing in toxic tort and insurance coverage matters.

Manufacturing

Philip A. Pageau has been named chief financial officer of Irvine-based DisplayWorks. The company specializes in the design and production of three-dimensional trade show exhibits.

D & L; Sheet Metal, Fullerton, appointed Louanne Punsalang controller. Punsalang previously held the same position for First American Title in Santa Ana.

Ron Rawson joined Innovative Audio Corp., Laguna Beach, as vice president, strategic accounts, and Greg Taylor was named vice president, operations. Both Rawson and Taylor also sit on the company’s board of directors.

Marketing

Mendoza, Dillon & Asociados Inc., Newport Beach, promoted Elena Anglin to senior account executive.

BDS Marketing, Irvine, appointed Mike Skinner chief information officer. The company also hired Dan Pitts as director of merchandising operations and Scott Pollett as an account executive.

Jon Ciarletta was named research director of the Morpace International regional office in the Irvine Spectrum. Prior to joining Morpace, Ciarletta was with Toyota Motor Sales, USA.

Santa Ana electronic marketing communications company, E-marcom Inc., hired Robert Hanson as senior programmer. Hanson is a contributor and writer in the Macromedia.Flash forum.

Jamie Tarr was appointed vice president, program development for the 3MD Group, Laguna Niguel.

Nonprofit

Orange County’s United Way elected nine members to its board of directors. The new board members are: Philip Carroll, chairman and CEO, Fluor Corp.; Martha Daniel, founder, president and CEO, Information Management Resources Inc.; Ray Estrella, vice president business and community development, Fullerton Community Bank; Thomas Nieto, senior vice president, US Trust Co.; Richard Porras, area vice president, external affairs, Pacific Bell; Tony Rackauckas, Orange County district attorney; Rocky Romanella, CEO, south California district, United Parcel Service; Joy Schaefer, president and CEO, WFS Financial; and Peter Villegas, first vice president and manager of corporate affairs for Southern California at Washington Mutual.

Aletha Anderson of Coto de Caza was elected chair of the 2000 Komen Orange County Race for the Cure to be held Sunday, Sept. 24 at Fashion Island.

Habitat for Humanity, Santa Ana, named Mark Korando director of site acquisition. The 21-year building industry veteran was senior building and grading inspector for the city of Irvine’s building department and planning commissioner for the city of Costa Mesa prior to joining Habitat for Humanity.

Don Jacobs, president of JBZ Architecture & Planning in Newport Beach, was named to the board of directors of HomeAid America, a provider of shelter beds for the temporarily homeless.

Organizations

Geologist Lee Shoemaker was added to the Orange County Natural History Museum’s board of directors. Shoemaker will be curator of earth sciences for the museum.

The Republican Party of Orange County appointed Keith W. Carlson, an associate at the law firm Hart, King & Coldren in Santa Ana, chairman of the Orange County Republican Lawyers Association.

Vicki Harris, branch manager of First Bank & Trust in Irvine, was named president-elect for the Exchange Club of Irvine. Harris’ term runs July 2000 through June 2001.

Real Estate

Valerie S. Miran joined Keystone Pacific Property Management Inc. as community association manager at the firm’s Irvine headquarters.

The Abbey Company, Garden Grove, added real estate and tax attorney David J. Gullen as general counsel. Gullen was previously a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Nelson Gullen Bronson & Katz LLP.

Beazer Homes’ Southern California Division in Orange recently promoted Barbara Brown to vice president of purchasing, Syllen Brown to vice president of mortgage, Clarence Clemons to director of sales and Andrea Kanel to vice president of escrow.

Koll Development Co., Newport Beach, appointed Michael Kendall vice president of the Western division. Kendall will be responsible for directing all aspects of the firm’s industrial development efforts in Orange and Los Angeles counties and the Inland Empire.

Technology

Lewis P. Chapman joined Nexell Therapeutics Inc., Irvine, as vice president, global marketing, while L. William McIntosh, Nexell president and COO, was named to the company’s board.
