Orange County’s United Way elected nine members to its board of directors. Habitat for Humanity, Santa Ana, named Mark Korando director of site acquisition. The 21-year building industry veteran was senior building and grading inspector for the city of Irvine’s building department and planning commissioner for the city of Costa Mesa prior to joining Habitat for Humanity.
Don Jacobs, president of JBZ Architecture & Planning in Newport Beach, was named to the board of directors of HomeAid America, a provider of shelter beds for the temporarily homeless.

Geologist Lee Shoemaker was added to the Orange County Natural History Museum’s board of directors. Shoemaker will be curator of earth sciences for the museum.
The Republican Party of Orange County appointed Keith W. Carlson, an associate at the law firm Hart, King & Coldren in Santa Ana, chairman of the Orange County Republican Lawyers Association.
Vicki Harris, branch manager of First Bank & Trust in Irvine, was named president-elect for the Exchange Club of Irvine. Harris’ term runs July 2000 through June 2001.
