Foote, Cone & Belding Southern California, Irvine, has appointed Dean Gilger vice president, chief financial officer. Gilger will oversee financial activities for the agency and its clients. He previously was director of finance at McCann-Erickson Worldwide Inc., San Francisco.

ARCHITECTURE

Mike Smith has joined Irvine-based Ware Malcomb as director, science and technology. Smith is a licensed architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

BUSINESS SERVICES

Santa Ana-based The First American Corp. has named Roger S. Hull chief executive of its Vendor Management Services unit. Hull will also retain his duties as senior vice president and chief information officer for the group.

CONSTRUCTION

Andrea Kanel has been promoted director of sales, south, of Beazer Homes’ Southern California division, Orange. Kanel began her career at Beazer seven years ago as escrow coordinator. She will supervise sales and escrow functions.

D.R. Horton Inc.’s Western Pacific Housing, Irvine, has promoted Barbara Murakami to land development manager of its Orange County/Inland Empire division. Murakami will work with subcontractors, engineers and project managers. She will also develop and maintain budgets.

L.J. Edgcomb has been named president of Pulte Homes Corp., Southern California division, Irvine. Edgcomb will manage operations and product development. He previously served as president of Newport Beach-based John Laing Homes’ Southern California division

ENGINEERING

Santa Ana-based Hall & Foreman Inc. has appointed Gerald J. Baril vice president and public works director. Baril has been with the company since 1999 and will be responsible for the firm’s public works and municipal services division.

HEALTHCARE

The Huntington Beach Community Clinic added Dr. Miles Masatsugu and Dr. Patricia Riba to its staff.

Masatsugu is a family practice physician and graduate of the Wayne State School of Medicine in Michigan. He completed his residency at University of California, Irvine.

Riba is a pediatrician and graduate of Boston University’s medical school. She performed her residency at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

James M. Corbett has been appointed acting president and chief executive officer of Irvine-based Micro Therapeutics Inc. Corbett is currently Micro Therapeutics’ chairman.

Additionally, Micro Therapeutics has hired Richard D. Randall as strategic advisor. Randall has more than 25 years experience in the medical device industry and specializes in interventional neuroradiology.

The Providence Speech and Hearing Center, Orange, has added Dr. Gregory Buchert, Pamela King, and Christine E. Neely to its board to assist with fundraising and growth opportunities. Buchert currently serves as medical director of pharmaceutical services for CalOptima, a Medicaid managed-care program in OC. King is the vice president, Western region, for Strategic Business Solutions Inc. Neely is a retired nurse and has worked with the Placentia-Yorba Linda Education Foundation.

LAW

Tiffany Brosnan, an attorney at Irvine-based Snell & Wilmer LLP has been elected to the board of directors for the Surf City International Film Festival in Huntington Beach. Brosnan brings a decade of legal experience to the board, which is arranging a first-time event to recognize a variety of movies.

Frederick “Rick” Kranz has joined Cox, Castle & Nicholson LLP as a partner in the firm’s Irvine office. Kranz has more than 25 years experience, specializing in business and real estate litigation. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and earned his law degree from UCLA; law school.

TECHNOLOGY

Santa Ana’s ITT Industries, Cannon,part of ITT Industries Inc.,has appointed Sandra Wood, director of leadership development and corporate communications. She will develop strategies in marketing communications and meeting planning.

Additionally, current director of e-business programs David Palmer has been named the company’s director of information technology. Palmer will manage the group’s browser-based business applications.

Seal Beach-based Performance Solutions Technology LLC has named Lou Metcalf vice president, sales. Most recently, Metcalf served as director, eastern region sales for Bellevue, Wash.-based Pacific-Edge Software Inc. He is based in the Washington, D.C., area.
