ARCHITECTURE

Nadel Architect’s retail division announced that Judy Merrill, office manager for the firm’s Costa Mesa office, has been awarded certification as a certified design administrator from the Society of Design Administration. She currently is serving her third term as the president of the society’s Orange County chapter.

BANKING

Irvine-headquartered real estate investment and commercial mortgage banking company Johnson Capital has named Sue M. Pendergraft vice president of operations. She has been with the firm since its inception in 1987. It also promoted Victoria Rivera, who has been with the company since 1999, to vice president for loan administration. Victoria Castillo was also promoted to vice president for loan administration.

BUSINESS SERVICES

John Sicard has been promoted to vice president, client solutions at webplan Corp. of Newport Beach. The company is a provider of supply chain systems for manufacturers. Sicard joined webplan in 1994.

COMPUTER

Stomp Inc., a software and computer accessories company, appointed Phil Reed vice president of sales and trade marketing. Reed was category sales manager at Avery Dennison Corp. In his new position, Reed will be responsible for Stomp’s retail sales management, growth and profitability.

CONSTRUCTION

Tustin-based DMK Inc. has promoted Carl Parslow to director of property services. Parslow was a property services manager at DMK. In his new position, Parslow will be responsible for clean and show work, demolition, doors and frames installation, metal stud framing, drywall, paint, plumbing, electrical, concrete and roof repair and replacement.

ENGINEERING

Hall & Foreman Inc., an engineering and surveying company in Santa Ana, has named Gerald J. Baril vice president along with his current title of public works director. He will be responsible for Hall & Forman’s public works and municipal services division.

HEALTH CARE

Glenn Yokoyama has joined PacifiCare Health Systems Inc.’s Prescription Solutions, a pharmacy and medical management company in Costa Mesa, as its director of clinical services. He will be responsible for clinical program development and implementation.

LAW

John M. Funk has joined Costa Mesa firm Albert, Weiland & Golden LLP, which specializes in bankruptcy, business and commercial litigation. Prior to his hiring, he served a judicial clerkship to Barry Russell, U.S. bankruptcy judge to the central district of California. The firm also hired Reem J. Bello, who will practice in the areas of bankruptcy and general civil litigation. She previously worked at Arter & Hadden LLP.

NONPROFIT

Anaheim Angels right fielder Tim Salmon, his wife Marci and Chris Anderson, publisher and chief executive of the Orange County Register, have volunteered as honorary co-chairs of this year’s Kids Helping Kids community service event, which is organized by the Boy Scouts of America, Orange County Council. The Boy Scouts will team up this year with Orange County’s Girl Scouts.

Costa Mesa-based HomeAid America has appointed Ian McCarthy chairman of its national advisory board. McCarthy currently serves as the president and chief executive of Beazer Homes USA.

SECURITY

Contract security services company Allied Security Inc. has hired Michael J. Kemppainen as vice president and general manager of the Orange County region, where he will oversee offices in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego.

Computerized Security Systems Inc. of Costa Mesa promoted Roger Carlson, the current president of its Saflok division, to president of CSS.

SPORTING GOODS

The Crosman Corp., a maker and distributor of air and paintball guns, has appointed Ken D’Arcy its permanent president and chief executive. D’Arcy has served as interim chief executive since October 2001. Crosman was acquired by Forrest Binkley & Brown, a Newport Beach-based venture capital firm, in 1997.

TECHNOLOGY

Costa Mesa-based Emulex Corp., a supplier of storage networking host bus adaptors, has appointed Randall Wick to the position of vice president, general counsel. Wick will control the company’s legal strategies and will manage activities including contracts administration and securities regulation compliance.

UTILITY

Dove Canyon resident Steven R. Sullivan has been named regional vice president for public affairs by Southern California Edison Co. Sullivan is a 24-year Edison employee and longtime Orange County resident.
