Todd R. Smith was promoted to managing director at KPMG LLP in Costa Mesa. Smith provides tax services to apparel, textile, electronics, automotive and aerospace clients on the West Coast. Smith joined KPMG in 2002 and he leads the firm’s trade and customs services practice in the West.
CONSULTING
Newport Beach-based Lyndon Group LLC, a finance and technology consultant, added Allan T. Maguire as a project manager. Maguire has 27 years of experience in accounting and finance. He spent 15 years as chief financial officer at Solus Industrial Innovations LLC, Motorvac Technologies Inc. and Erin Maxx Corp. He specializes in valuation, financial reporting and acquisition integration.
EDUCATION
Marc Micozzi was named to the advisory board of UC Irvine Extension’s spa and hospitality management certificate program. In 2002, Micozzi became founding director of the Policy Institute for Integrative Medicine in Bethesda, Md. He also was executive director of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Nancy Salzman joined UC Irvine Extension as assistant director for its business, management and legal programs. She will plan new certificate programs.
ENTERTAINMENT
Anaheim Arena Management, which manages Honda Center in Anaheim, named Kevin Starkey vice president of operations. Starkey has more than 16 years of experience in public facilities and arena management experience. He worked at the Great Western Forum when it was home to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings. Also, Brent Mater was promoted to director of operations. Mater previously was assistant director of operations for two years.
FINANCE
Huntington Beach-based Delta Global Advisors, which provides international investment services, hired Peter Holst as managing director, private client services. Holst has 15 years of experience in investments. He recently was senior vice president with Oppenheimer in New York.
HOTELS
Thierry Grandsire joined The Irvine Company’s Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast as general manager. Grandsire previously managed the Ritz-Carlton, Doha, which was named the best hotel in the Middle East at the Depa awards, which honor hotels. Prior to Doha in Qatar, he held senior executive roles at Ritz-Carlton properties in Pasadena, Marina del Rey and Laguna Niguel.
INSURANCE
Andrew Oleksiew joined Pacific Life Insurance Co. as senior vice president of business development. He has more than 25 years experience in financial services. Most recently he was head of Asia Pacific for MetLife Inc. Also, Oleksiew was executive vice president of MassMutual Financial Group.
LAW
Steven S. Wang, Jennifer C. Lyons and Adrienne N. Matheson joined Newmeyer & Dillon LLP as associates in its Newport Beach headquarters. Wang is a member of the Korean American Bar Association of Southern California. Lyons specializes in insurance law, land-use and eminent domain. Matheson was a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association at Northwestern University.
Cyrus C. Chen joined the Costa Mesa office of Theodora Oringher Miller & Richman PC as an associate. He previously worked for Walsworth Franklin Bevins & McCall LLP. Chen practices environmental, business, product liability and construction law.

Mark Sorenson was elected as a 2007-08 board chairman for Fountain Valley’s Elwyn California, which prepares adults with disabilities for employment. He is president of Pacifica Foods. Eric Connella of Edward Jones became vice chairman and Donna Bernbrock will be secretary.

Tustin-based Coreland Cos. named Laurie Sneve chief financial officer. Sneve has more than 20 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting. Prior to Coreland, she was chief financial officer for Argus Realty Investors LP in San Clemente. Sneve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
