BANKING

Comerica Bank promoted Maria Obeid to vice president and district manager for Orange County. Obeid has been with the company for more than two years and most recently was assistant vice president and banking center manager of the Cypress branch.

Jane Smallwood was named executive vice president at Downey Savings’ Newport Beach branch. Smallwood originally joined the company in 1974 and has more than 30 years of experience in financial services. She previously held positions as chief underwriter and loan underwriter in home lending.


CONSULTING

Ruth Horaczko joined Newport Beach- based Lydon Group LLC. Horaczko was previously the director of financial controls for Powerwave Technologies Inc. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


EDUCATION

St. Mary and All Angels School in Aliso Viejo named John O’Brien headmaster. O’Brien has worked in education for 28 years and is currently the headmaster at Saddle River Day School in New Jersey. He will direct all operations at the 800-student Christian school.

Paul H. Crumb has been named executive vice president of administration and chief financial officer at Concordia University. Crumb has more than 20 years of experience managing business and financial operations. He serves on the board of LCMS World Relief and Human Care.


INSURANCE

Brea-based Veterinary Pet Insurance named Kenneth R. Stallings director of sales. Stallings previously served as national sales manager for First American Corp. based in Santa Ana. He has more than 20 years of national and regional sales experience.


LAW

Michael Yi joined Santa Ana-based Callahan & Blaine as a civil litigator. Yi specializes in business litigation, class actions and employment law. He was president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association at Santa Clara School of Law.

Bingham McCutchen LLP named Craig Mordock a partner at its Costa Mesa office. Mordock recently worked at Morrison & Foerster LLP. He has experience representing parties in mergers and acquisitions as well as other corporate legal matters.

James Fessenden joined the Irvine office of Fisher & Phillips LLP as an associate. Fessenden has experience in employer discrimination, harassment and retaliation law cases. He recently worked as an associate at King & Ballow.


MEDIA & MARKETING

Orange County Register Communi-cations has named Michael Henry vice president of finance. Henry will supervise financial planning and analysis for new business ventures, subscriber initiatives and capital investments.


NONPROFIT

Habitat for Humanity of OC in Santa Ana promoted Dana Larson to manager of volunteer services and Karen Moses to planned giving and donor services manager. Both Larson and Moses joined Habitat OC in 2006. Larson manages Women Build and AmeriCorps programs and oversees the Habitat Builder e-newsletter. Moses is in charge of developing for the Legacy Program and manages donor software.


REAL ESTATE

Donahue Schriber added Diana Swartz as a leasing representative in its Costa Mesa office. Swartz previously spent three years at Cornish & Carey Commercial and Sperry Van Ness in Sacramento. She is a member of the Association of Commercial Real Estate.

Irvine-based Keystone Pacific Property Management Inc. promoted Rob DeCanter from architectural coordinator to community association manager. He will manage a portfolio of the company’s existing accounts here.

Henry J. Fitzpatrick was named vice president of finance and operations at Core Realty Holdings LLC in Newport Beach. Fitzpatrick has 23 years of experience in real estate finance, development and property management. He recently worked at the Newport Beach office of CB Richard Ellis Group Inc.


SPORTS

Mitch Bridge has been named head coach at Irvine-based Advantage Tennis Academy. Bridge will oversee marketing efforts as well as mentor students on basic to advanced techniques. He has won more than 100 men’s open titles.
