Orange resident Linda F. Betzer will head a new group of Union Bank of California that is merging operations and customer functions for retail, corporate and multinational clients. She will oversee a staff of 1,300 with an operating budget of $91million.
Betzer, 53, is an executive vice president reporting to CEO Takahiro Moriguchi and the first woman to serve on the 13-member executive management committee, a policy-making group at the bank. She joined the bank in 1970 as an administrative officer and moved up through the ranks.
The new operations and customer services group has functions such as cash management, commercial and real estate loan documentation, global wire transfers and electronic banking. The group’s customer-service units include call centers, teleservices, client support, retirement plan center and relationship services.
