Irvine-based Ocean Pacific Apparel Corp. is diving into wetsuits.
The apparel maker recently entered into a licensing agreement with Carlsbad-based Neoprene Tech Inc. to produce a line of beach-oriented neoprene wetsuits under the OP label, according to Dick Baker, CEO of OP.
The collection for men, women and children will be available for retail delivery in September.
“It’s clear that wetsuits are an important element to a brand like OP,” said Baker in a company statement. The surf-inspired collection is being designed for a wide array of water sports, including water skiing, wake boarding and wind surfing, and will be distributed through sporting goods stores and chains as well as surf and beach shops.
Wholesale prices will range from $109.95-$219.95 for full suits and $59.95 to $109.95 for spring suits.
In other business, OP is still reportedly in negotiations with Marvin Winkler to purchase the global trademark rights to rival surfwear maker Gotcha International. As of last week, the deal had not closed.
