Oakley Buying Protective Goggle Maker for $110M

Foothill Ranch-based Oakley Inc. is paying $110 million for an Idaho maker of protective goggles for soldiers, police and firefighters.

The buy of Sun Valley, Idaho-based Eye Safety Systems Inc. is set to close early next year. The company stands to add about $30 million in sales to Oakley’s $650 million in yearly revenue.

John Dondero, founder and president of Eye Safety Systems is set to continue running the business.

The buy is the third this year for Oakley under Chief Executive Scott Olivet.

Earlier this year, Oakley acquired Aliso Viejo-based Optical Shop of Aspen for undisclosed terms. The company makes fashion glasses and runs stores.

Before that, Oakley bought Los Angeles-based Oliver Peoples Inc., another upscale seller of glasses, for $56 million.
