We got some things wrong in our Jan. 26 story “Noodle Maker Takes Over Local Plant.”
The story should have said that IHOI Inc., a newly formed company that plans to produce instant noodles and soup bases for local buyers, leased a 155,805-square-foot building at 14524 Myford Road.
The Irvine building is the former plant and headquarters of Solafide Inc., which filed for bankruptcy protection last year.
IHOI plans to use most of the equipment Solafide left behind.
The story also should have said that Canada’s Encore Gourmet Food Corp. isn’t part of IHOI, according to a spokesman for the Montreal-area company.
Encore did buy a piece of production equipment from a Solafide bankruptcy auction, according to the spokesman. IHOI is expected to lease that equipment.
IHOI, which counts former Solafide executives in its ranks, plans to hire many of the 60 people who were working for Solafide, ac-cording to a source familiar with the company.
Solafide, which previously operated as Union Foods Newcorp with yearly sales of about $10 million, made a splash here a few years ago after it unveiled plans for a healthier brand of noodles following an investor buyout.
Those plans were derailed by rising production and distribution costs and costly lawsuits. Solafide wrapped up operations at its Irvine manufacturing plant earlier this month.
