Newport Beach-based Mindspeed Technologies Inc. lowered its sales outlook for the recently ended quarter because of delays in shipping chips from the Philippines.
Mindspeed said sales for the December quarter could come in at $30 million, down 6% from the September quarter. Earlier, the company expected revenue even with the prior quarter.
Results are due Jan. 22.
Mindspeed blamed the delay on the Dec. 26 earthquake in Taiwan, which disrupted communications in Asia after an undersea cable was severed.
The outage impacted Mindspeed’s assembly facility in the Philippines, the company said. Delayed orders since have been shipped, it said.
