Five Orange County chief financial officers were honored by the Orange County/Long Beach chapter of the California Society of CPAs at its annual CFO of the Year Awards: Ken McFarland of Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo; Kerri Rupert of Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange; Mimi Taylor of Orange-based Southern Counties Oil Co.’s SC Fuels; Jerrold Pellizzon of Costa Mesa-based Ceradyne Inc. and Frank O’Brien of ICU Medical Inc. in San Clemente. The banquet also raised more than $40,000 for the chapter’s student scholarship program.

Skill Craft Body Shop Inc. in Huntington Beach received the Outstanding Performance Award from the Interinsurance Exchange of the Costa Mesa-based Automobile Club of Southern California. Skill Craft founder and President Ray Galvin and general manager Jim Hollerbach accepted the award. The Body Shop was honored for its Immediate Repair Program.

Beacon Pointe Advisors LLC in Newport Beach ranked among the top 25 in Wealth Manager Magazine’s annual ranking of America’s Top Wealth Managers for the third straight year. Ranking was based upon surveys of 500 wealth managers. The survey measured average client account size, total assets under management and growth of assets.

The American Cancer Society gave Joanne O’Heany of Newport Beach its St. George National Medal of Honor Award. The award is given to an outstanding volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the achievement of the group’s goals. O’Heany has volunteered for nearly 40 years in fundraising, advocacy, cancer control and communications.

Mickey Stuewe received the top three awards in the jewelry/glass category at the Artist’s Eye Juried Exhibition in Santa Ana. Stuewe is owner of Mique Designs in Costa Mesa. She received first place for her water etched fine silver and fresh water pearl necklace, Bamboo Serenity.

Jack Bedell received the Faculty Leadership in Collegial Governance Award at California State University, Fullerton. Bedell is professor of sociology and chairs the anthropology department. He has been a professor at Cal State Fullerton for 38 years and is first in school history to serve five terms as leader of the faculty advisory body, the Academic Senate.

Snell & Wilmer LLP received the Community Cornerstone Award for its contributions at the OC United Way annual Campaign Celebration in Newport Beach. Its donations went to fund tuition scholarships for the 5-Star Quality Child Care Centers in Santa Ana. Snell & Willmer also received a Golden Key award and a Spirit of OC award from United Way.

Morgan T. Anderson was awarded the chartered property casualty underwriter designation by the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. Anderson is area vice president of Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services. Anderson joined Arthur J. Gallagher in 2004. Previously, he worked at Aon Risk Services.

Jackie Gogan, Mary Hermann, Kandy Mink Salas and Brie Roumeliotis received the inaugural Champions Award by the California State University Alcohol Education Conference. All are members of the Cal State Fullerton campus community alcohol management project.

OC Head Start employee Deborah Paratore was named OC National Head Start fellow. Fellows impact policies and initiatives through feedback to strengthen their own programs. Paratore has been OC Head Start’s Quality Systems manager for five years. She manages compliance issues among 42 preschool and early child development programs.
