Orange advertising agency Strata-Media received a 2004 Silver Award from the Orange County Ad Club. The agency was recognized for the work it did for Westamerica Graphics Corp., a Foothill-Ranch based printer.
Exc & #233;lsior, the Spanish-language weekly published by Freedom Orange County Information, part of Irvine-based Freedom Communications Inc., received 16 awards from the National Association of Hispanic Publications. These included seven first-place awards, including one for most-improved publication. The association annually recognizes accomplishments in the Hispanic media.
Ronald D. Stumpf, a partner in the accounting firm of Elliott, Lewis, Lieber & Stumpf Inc. in Santa Ana, was named Regional Champion for the U.S. Small Business Administration Region IX, which includes California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada and Guam.
Marlene Heyser, director of human resources and risk management for the Orange County Transportation Authority, was elected president of the executive board for the Industrial Relations Research Association, a national professional organization.
Carolyn Clark, sales coordinator for the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau, was nominated for a Service Excellence Award from the Orange County Tourism Council. Clark also was considered for the Walter Knott Award for Tourism Person of the Year.
The publicity and community development team for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim received the 2004 Communicator Awards in three categories. The Mighty Ducks Web site was given the Crystal Award of Excellence and the team’s 2003-2004 yearbook and community report each received an Award of Distinction. The Communicator Awards is a global competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field.
Placentia-based Torrez Trucking, a family-operated business, received the 2004 Small Business of the Year award from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Orange County.
Tony Joseph of Capistrano Beach was inducted into the National Kitchen and Bath Association Hall of Fame for his work as vice chairman of Dacor Appliances, a maker of cooking appliances in Diamond Bar.
Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach received the 2004 Founders Award from the Association for Corporate Growth, a Glenview, Ill.-based networking nonprofit.
Irvine-based Fuscoe Engineering Inc. won a Major Achievement in Marketing Excellence Award from the Sales and Marketing Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California.
RNM Architecture Planning in Newport Beach received two Pillars of the Industry awards from the National Association of Homebuilders, for two of its homes built in Henderson, Nev. Walter Richardson, the company’s founder and chairman, received the Max C. Tipton Lifetime Achievement Award from the Building Industry Association of Southern California.
Jia G. Lu, assistant professor of chemical engineering and materials science as well as electrical engineering and computer science at University of California, Irvine, received a 2002 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers from President Bush.
Human Options, an Irvine-based nonprofit that helps victims of domestic violence, was presented with the 2004 Humanitarian Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice.
Placentia-based Total Spectrum Advertising won two Communicator Awards in the 2004 Print Media Competition: an Award of Distinction for a business publication advertisement and an Honorable Mention Award for a brochure.
The city of Irvine’s Public Information Office won top honors from the California Association of Public Information Officials at its annual conference. The city was recognized for its annual report, video production of “Every Fifteen Minutes” and Global Village Marketing Campaign.
Lynne Matallana, founder and president of the National Fibromyalgia Association, an Orange-based nonprofit, received the Food and Drug Administration commissioner’s Special Citation as a member of the Patient Representative Working Group.
The Fair Housing Leadership Awards were presented in six categories by Santa Ana-based Fair Housing Council of Orange County, a nonprofit that works to ensure equal access to housing opportunities. Lyon Management Cos. won in the rental category, while Pulte Homes Inc. received the award in the homebuilding category. Wells Fargo & Co. was selected as the winner in the lending category. Eric Gramberg, director of real estate advertising for the Los Angeles Times, won the advertising category award. Carrie Morelan, training manager for Shea Properties, won in the individual category. The real estate sales category award went to Jeanne Luong of Excel Real Estate.
The University of Redlands School of Business presented an Alumni Association Award to Mechelle Lawrence, executive director of Mission San Juan Capistrano. Lawrence graduated with a master’s degree from the school of business in 2002 and became the mission’s executive director in 2003.
Change a Life Foundation, a Lake Forest-based nonprofit, received two 2004 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards, sponsored by the Council on Foundations and the Communications Network. It received a silver award for its Web site and a bronze award for its annual report.
