International Paper Co. has made an investment in Aliso Viejo-based nexTier Solutions, a 2-year-old developer of an online purchasing system for the magazine and catalog industries.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but International Paper said it will offer nexTier advice on tailoring the company’s system to the paper industry as nexTier readies the next version of its product. International Paper also plans to use nexTier’s system.
The nexTier purchasing software manages most steps in the procurement process, including order forecasting and entry, logistics monitoring and management process. NexTier is in negotiations to move from its current 3,000-square-foot space to an 11,000-sqaure-foot facility in the Irvine Spectrum. NexTier also said it is planning to hire 15 to 20 business development and technical personnel.
