The American Cancer Society, Orange County Region raised $280,000 at the OC Barons’ Ball. Five hundred guests attended the event at South Coast Plaza. KOCE newscaster Ed Arnold was the master of ceremonies. Sponsors included Trina and Kent Barkouras of Myprint Corp., Powell and Karen Thurston of The Pimco Foundation and Alyson Yarberry and Chelsea Taylor of Blue C Advertising. The money will be used for research grants, patient services and education programs.

Boeing Co. gave $291,000 to Orange County United Way for after-school programs, food banks and job training programs.

Laura’s House in Ladera Ranch raised $270,000 at its Sea of Dreams Gala. Some 300 guests participated in auctions to fund Laura’s House, which serves women who are victims of domestic violence. Pacific Landmark International donated labor. Philanthropist Zee Allred was honored for her commitment to the community.

Orangewood Children’s Foundation raised $135,000 at the Doug DeCinces Orangewood Classic. The dinner and golf tournament included a cocktail reception and auctions. The foundation is a provider of services to children in foster care. The tournament was sponsored by Tustin Lexus. DeCinces is a former third baseman for the Baltimore Orioles and California Angels.

Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope served Thanksgiving meals donated to local homeless families. Volunteer chefs from Cheescake Factory prepared more than 350 meals in the kitchen the restaurant had previously designed, donated and built.

Comerica Bank, part of Comerica Inc., made a $6,000 donation to local nonprofits as part of its grand opening celebration in San Juan Capistrano. Local residents chose to award money to Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club of San Juan Capistrano, Camino Health Center, Mission San Juan Capistrano, Community Presbyterian Pre-School and Rancho Capistrano, Saddleback Valley and Stoneybrooke Christian Schools.
