Gateway Lands Air Force Deal

Computer maker Gateway Inc. landed an $8 million technology contract with the Air Force, the Irvine-based company said Wednesday.

Gateway is set to provide E-4300 desktop computers and services to Air Force bases around the globe. The company also said it landed a five-year Air Force pact that lets it vie for business-level computer purchases.

In May, Gateway landed a $45 million deal with the University of Arizona. Gateway bought Irvine discount PC maker eMachines Inc. last year for some $266 million, bringing the company from San Diego to Orange County.
