Corinthian in China School Pact

Santa Ana-based Corinthian Colleges Inc. has agreed to license its name and class materials for automotive training schools in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, the company said Monday.

Corinthian, an operator of for-profit colleges, signed the agreement with the CIBT School of Business & Technology Corp. in China. The pact allows CIBT to offer transportation maintenance certificate, diploma and degree programs. CIBT is a unit of Capital Alliance Group Inc. of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CIBT will have exclusive use of Corinthian’s WyoTech name and course materials. CIBT also will have an option to expand into Thailand.

WyoTech is part of the Titan Schools division of Corinthian Colleges, which operates seven automotive, motorcycle, aviation and marine technical training schools in the U.S.

CIBT has started construction on 150,000 square feet of school facilities in China. The new campus is next to its existing operation, CIBT Beihai International Management School.

Corinthian’s stock was down 2.2% to $12.44 in Monday trading.
