Canada’s Stantec Inc. said Thursday it wrapped up its $197 million buy of Irvine-based Keith Cos.
Keith has about 850 employees in 10 offices in California, Portland, Ore., Las Vegas, Phoenix and other U.S. locations. It provides engineering and consulting services.
“Our new presence in California makes Stantec a leading urban land development services group in the region and offers many opportunities to use this local base to offer and sell our public sector services in the transportation and environment areas within one of the largest markets in North America,” said Tony Franceschini, Stantec chief executive.
Stantec, which is based in Edmonton, Alberta, provides design and consulting services for planning, engineering, architecture, surveying and project management. It had more than 4,000 workers prior to its acquisition of Keith.
Stantec was the ninth-biggest engineering company based on Orange County billings, (see story and ranking in the Sept. 19 issue of the Business Journal).
Aram Keith, chairman and chief executive of Keith, will become a Stantec director. All of Keith’s offices will operate under the Stantec name.
