Boeing Co. is set to pack up its Anaheim-based Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense program and ship it to Alabama.
About 30 jobs will move to the aerospace company’s Huntsville facility during the next several months.
The availability of Huntsville’s skilled and experienced workforce will ensure Boeing’s Aegis Ballistic Missile Defenses program work maintains its high quality, reliability and mission success, the company said in a release.
Boeing expects most of the Huntsville positions to be filled by current employees, but it is not clear how many from Anaheim will make the move.
Moving the program is part of the company’s plan to become more efficient, and consolidate its Southern California operations.
Boeing announced in July 2006 that it would close its 1.7 million-square-foot Anaheim facility and move workers to its 2.6 million-square-foot Huntington Beach location.
About 3,700 workers in the Anaheim facility have been scheduled to move to Huntington Beach within the next five years.
Two Anaheim-based satellite programs will move to Boeing’s 850,000-square-foot site in Seal Beach.
