BAI Communications, a global infrastructure provider, said it has completed the acquisition of Newport Beach-based Mobilitie one of the largest privately-held telecommunications infrastructure companies in the U.S.
The purchase by the Australia-based company was first made public in June, but financial details were not released. Mobilitie was founded by Orange County entrepreneur Gary Jabara.
As part of the acquisition, BAI acquires Mobilitie’s portfolio of assets, including existing telecommunication infrastructure contracts with transit operators in San Francisco and Seattle, as well as 220 large public venues’ DAS (distributed antenna systems) networks, 10,000 small cells and 300 tower sites across the United States.
Christos Karmis, president of Mobilitie, said the acquisition by BAI “will expand and accelerate our deployment of wireless infrastructure solutions in the marketplace and position us to better support our customers globally.”
