Costa Mesa-based Anna’s Linens, a bed and bath retailer targeting ethnic shoppers in urban areas, is said to be in talks to buy 26 stores from Ostrow Holdings Inc.
Anna’s Linens could take over 26 Plej’s Linen Supermarkets run by Rock Hill, S.C.-based Ostrow on the East Coast, according to a report in the Charlotte Business Journal.
Ostrow plans to shut down after making its second bankruptcy filing in less than two years.
Anna’s Linens runs about 185 stores in 13 states. Two years ago, the retailer bought 11 store leases from now-defunct Strouds.
Earlier this year, Anna’s Linens filed to raise about $70 million in an initial public offering.
So far, there’s been no visible movement on an offering. The company’s last filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission was in June.
