Anaheim Angeles

Anaheim Angeles

Comment

by Rick Reiff

MEXICAN BILLIONAIRE-INDUSTRIALIST CARLOS PERALTA REPORTEDLY IS interested in buying the Anaheim Angels from The Walt Disney Co.

I find this an interesting development that could strengthen OC’s ties to our neighbor and economic partner to the south.

But I urge Peralta to make sure Anaheim will grant him a liquor license.

Keeping Score

I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED TO KNOW HOW OUR LOCAL representatives did on a scorecard of 15 key “small business” votes in the 107th Congress. The votes, compiled by the Washington, D.C.-based Small Business Survival Committee, included overturning Clinton’s last-minute ergonomic regulations, phasing out the death tax and supporting the Bush tax cut. Scores ranged from zero, for voting against the SBSC’s position every time, to 100, for backing the SBSC on all 15 votes.

Cox and Royce scored 100, while Rohrabacher, Miller, Issa and Calvert scored 93. Sanchez, the lone Democrat, scored 13.

On a similar Senate scorecard, California’s liberal Feinstein and Boxer scored 13 and 7, respectively.
