Alliance Imaging Inc., a Newport Beach-based medical scanning company, said Tuesday that it bought Shared P.E.T. Imaging Inc. of Canton, Ohio, for $43 million in cash and debt.
Alliance bought Shared to increase its emphasis on cancer scanning.
Shared, which operates in 13 states, specializes in positron emission tomography and computed tomography scans, which are used to detect cancer among other things.
Shared generates $29 million in annual revenue and serves its clients through mobile units and fixed sites.
Alliance operates in 46 states and has more than 1,000 clients. In July, Alliance bought another provider of medical scanning services for $20 million in cash and debt.
The company bought Medical Outsourcing Services LLC of Illinois to build up its diagnostic scanning businesses, particularly for cancer screening.
