Allergan’s Schiavo Retiring

Jacqueline Schiavo, one of the highest-ranking women in business in Orange County, is retiring as an executive vice president of Allergan Inc.

Schiavo is stepping down as the drug maker’s executive vice president of global technical operations after nearly 25 years with the Irvine-based company.

She plans to step down April 29.

Schiavo has played a key role at Allergan. About 1,800 of Allergan’s 5,000 workers fall under Schiavo’s worldwide operations unit. Under her watch are drug finishing plants in Texas, Brazil and Ireland.

She’s also had a big hand in a streamling effort led by Chief Executive David Pyott.

“I don’t concern myself terribly as to whether I’m the 10th-ranking female executive, the 15th-ranked or the first,” Schiavo told the Business Journal in an earlier interview. “When I come to work, my focus is on Allergan and advancing the business.”

Upon leaving, Allergan’s global technical operations duties are set to fall to Eric Brandt, the company’s executive vice president of finance, strategy and corporate development.
