Montpelier, France-based ABX Diagnostics Inc., a maker of blood analyzer equipment with its U.S. headquarters in Irvine, earlier this month announced that the company had become part of Horiba Medical Group, a subsidiary of Kyoto, Japan-based analyzing equipment maker Horiba Ltd.
ABX officials said they plan to use their association with Horiba to bring a more diverse range of products to the U.S. market, especially Horiba Medical Group’s diagnostic point-of-care analyzing equipment that can perform blood analysis at a patient’s bedside.
ABX officials said they estimate the point-of-care equipment market in the U.S. is growing 16% annually.
Horiba Ltd. makes analyzing and measuring equipment used in the automotive sector, for environmental analysis and in the semiconductor industry. For fiscal 2000, Horiba reported net sales of just more than $600 million.
