A group of nine attorneys has left Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth PC in Newport Beach to establish Stuart Kane LLP, a boutique firm that’s set up shop next-door in Newport Center with a focus on real estate and employment law and business litigation.
The new firm is headed by Bruce Stuart and Bob Kane, who were chairs of the real estate and employment practice groups at Stradling, respectively. Stradling is the third-largest law office in Orange County, with about 80 lawyers here. It has five other offices throughout California and a sixth in Reno.
Bob Whalen, senior shareholder at Stradling, said the firm “fully supports this departure and wishes the new firm the best.”
Stuart has spent more than 30 years in real estate law in Orange County, and Kane specializes in labor and employment law.
Other attorneys joining Stuart Kane from Stradling include partners Josh Grushkin, Robert Wallace and associate Javier Gutierrez, all three of whom will work with Stuart in the real estate practice group; partner Bruce May, who will work with Kane in the employment group; partner Donald Hamman, who will head the new firm’s business litigation group; and partners Peter Wucetich and Eve Brackmann, who will work under Hamman.
