Dish Network Corp. said it has completed the $1.4 billion purchase of Irvine-based prepaid wireless business Boost Mobile as part of the T-Mobile takeover of Sprint Corp.

Boost is a no-contract brand that serves subscribers seeking wireless plans without data limits.

The sale fulfills a commitment that T-Mobile and Sprint made to the Department of Justice and to the Federal Communications Commission as part of their merger process.

Dish said it will continue to utilize the Boost brand and presented a new logo for it.

“With this purchase, Dish officially enters the retail wireless market, serving more than 9 million customers,” Dish said in announcing the purchase completion.
