Lawyer Civility is Key to Success for Kimura, London

Attorney Darrell White says “when the lawyers get along that’s the best result for the client.”

That civility is one of the main reasons why he likes practicing in Orange County.

The Irvine-based law firm he co-founded, Kimura, London & White LLP, came in at No. 4 on the Business Journal’s 2025 list of the fastest-growing local law firms by percentage growth. Its attorney headcount jumped from five to 13 over three years ended in September.

In terms of absolute headcount change, the firm ranked No. 10 on the list.

The firm was founded in 2018. Its practice areas include business litigation, personal injury, corporate law, real estate law, trusts and family law.

Over the years, White and his colleagues have gotten to know judges and lawyers, which adds a key element to the local profession’s civility and professionalism.

“Everyone understands that your lawyers are going to fight hard for your respective positions, but if the lawyers can communicate and have mutual respect for one another, that tends to focus everyone on the dispute versus what I’ve experienced personally in other jurisdictions,” White said.

In Los Angeles, for example, he said “cases can sometimes unfortunately be driven by the attorneys fighting amongst themselves over things that don’t advance the case for either side.”

Longtime Friends, 2018 Founding

“My partners and I have all known each other first as friends for essentially our entire adult lives,” says White, helping the firm’s atmosphere.

“We have this fantastic working relationship that makes for a culture at our company where we treat everyone very well. We take pride in delivering exceptional service and results to our clients. We try to treat them as we would want to be treated.”

Right now, the firm is looking to hire more lawyers and is ready to consider both lateral moves and recent graduates. It also wants to boost support staff.

The firm started with White, his two partners and an assistant seven years ago. In addition to Irvine, the firm also has offices in New York City and Beverly Hills.

“We’re counsel of record on the largest cryptocurrency civil asset forfeiture case in the country,” says White, referring to the dispute involving his firm’s client Battle Born Investments of Nevada.

The firm is also counsel of record in a case involving mortgage loan originator and servicer New American Funding in Tustin.

Other clients include Farmers & Merchants Bank based in Long Beach.
