Irvine-based Ezralow Retail Properties LLC, a subsidiary of Bryan Ezralow’s Calabasas-based The Ezralow Company, spent big bucks to purchase the Huntington Beach Mall from MaceRich Huntington LP last year.
Then it set about to invest almost as much to upgrade the 900,000-square-foot facility and create a slightly smaller open-air center.
With the changes, the city of Huntington Beach expects the mall’s annual sales to grow from $89 million in 1998 to a projected $175 million to $200 million by the time the project is completed in September 2001.
The revamped mall will be a little smaller, about 800,000 square feet. But the new owners believe they are positioning the retail center to compete more effectively against nearby malls such as Westminster Mall and South Coast Plaza.
