Ronna Shipman, vice president of community relations for the Orange County Register, received the Salvation Army Spirit of Giving award. The award is given to individuals and organizations that help the Salvation Army care for the needs of disadvantaged people in Orange County.
The Orange County Natural History Museum received a $1,000 joint grant from the California Greenways Creative Grants Program. This grant is a statewide honor that will help create a wildlife butterfly garden in the Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park.
Rick Keller, president and managing director of Keller, Collins, Hakopian & Leisure Investment Counsel Inc. in Irvine, was recently selected first-place winner of the Orange County Society of Investment Managers’ annual stock-picking contest. Participants in the contest submitted a portfolio of 10 stocks and tracked their performances for a year.
The Boeing Company hosted a breakfast that recognized participants in the 1999 United Way Loaned Employee Program. This program more than doubles the size of the United Way’s fundraising staff each year and raises money to support more services to help the people of Orange County, without increasing overhead for campaign and administrative expenses.
South Coast Repertory, Costa Mesa, received a $300,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to continue to support the theater’s Pacific Playwrights Festival for the next three years. The grant also funds new play development.
