The 30th Annual Major Achievement in Marketing Excellence Awards honored The Irvine Company with 17 awards for excellence in community planning, home design, merchandising and marketing. The Irvine Co.’s Woodbury village in Irvine was named the Southland’s Best Master Planned Community. The awards were presented by the Orange County Sales and Marketing Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California.

The San Clemente-based Surf Industry Manufacturers Association presented its Third Annual SIMA Image Awards to: Costa Mesa-based Volcom Inc. for Manufacturer of the Year and Women’s Brand of the Year; Newport Beach’s RVCA Corp. for Buzz Brand of the Year; San Diego-based Reef for Product Innovation of the Year; Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. for Ad Campaign of the Year; Santa Barbara-based Channel Islands Surfboards for Board Builder of the Year; and San Diego’s Sun Diego for Retailer of the Year.

Taylor Woodrow Homes Inc. in Irvine received seven MAME Awards. Two of the awards were for Project of the Year (Luxury Home Market) for Cypress at Pacific Ridge in Newport Coast and for Project of the Year (Entry Level and First Move-up Market) for Azalea at Dos Lagos in Corona. Taylor Woodrow Homes is a unit of Britain’s Taylor Woodrow PLC.

Eleven MAME Awards were presented to the Collaborative West Inc., a San Clemente-based landscape architectural firm. Three MAME Grand Awards for Treo in Woodbury in Irvine; four Finalist Awards for Briar Rose in Ladera Ranch; three Finalist Awards for Belcara at Pacific Ridge in Newport Coast; and one Finalist Award for The Retreat in Corona.

Professional Builder Magazine named Irvine-based Danielian Associates Architectural and Planning as one of the top 50 places to work nationwide in the architectural and building industry.

Alfred University in New York awarded Joel Moskowitz an honorary doctor of science degree. Moskowitz is a 1961 alumnus with a degree in ceramics engineering. He joined the university’s board in 1983. He is founder, chief executive and chairman of Costa Mesa-based Ceradyne Inc. He and his wife have donated more than $1 million to the school.

Charlene Hatakeyama, Young Kim, Bobby McDonald, Tammy Thien-Tam Tran, Alan Woo, Marissa Pei-Carpenter, Ding-Jo Currie, Ron Kobayashi, Linda Sarno and Toye Jessica Tong were recognized for their achievements to the Asian Pacific American Community by the Asian Business Association of Orange County and Nordstrom Inc.

International career services company Lee Hecht Harrison’s Irvine office, a unit of Adecco SA, received the President’s Award for Exceptional Service Quality by an Office.

Patrick R. Fuscoe, founder and president of Irvine-based Fuscoe Engineering Inc., was named Land Development Engineer of the Year by the Orange County unit of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Share Our Selves, which provides services to Orange County’s needy, was given the 2005 Mary K. Dewane Safety Net Award from CalOptima, a public healthcare agency, in recognition of its healthcare services.

The Fair Housing Council of Orange County gave Fair Housing Leadership Awards to six groups of various segments of the housing industry for working toward eliminating housing discrimination. They are: Sat-ellite Management Co., rental housing; Standard Pacific Homes, homebuilding, Apartment Magazine, advertising; Darlene Powell, Mental Health Association of Orange County, nonprofit; David Silver-Westrick, Orange County As-sociation of Realtors, real estate; and First American Corp., lending industry.

Orange County Unit-ed Way gave The Dan Donahue Award to Robert M. Campbell, president of CT Realty Corp. of Newport Beach, for his public and philanthropic service, and his most recent role in leading the establishment of the Building Block Foundation Fund, a charitable group for the Orange County commercial real estate industry.

The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences recognized Henry Schielein, president and chief operating officer of The Balboa Bay Club & Resort, as One of the Finest Hoteliers Worldwide. Schielein was given the International Star-Diamond Award.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association named Milan Panic, founder, president and chief executive of Irvine-based MP Biomedicals LLC, Man of the Year, which recognizes people for commitments to helping the association seek treatments and cures for neuromuscular diseases.
