Foothill Ranch-based Kaiser Aluminum Corp. said Monday it is investing $19 million to expand its Tennessee plant.
Expanding the aluminum maker’s Tennalum division will help meet rising demand for the rods and bars that it sells to the aerospace industry, the company said in a release.
The project is slated for completion by the end of next year.
Kaiser shapes aluminum into custom pieces for the defense and auto industries, producing more than 500 million pounds of products each year.
“By investing in additional growth at the facility, we’ll continue to leverage our technical expertise and a long, proven history as the preferred supplier to our service center, aerospace and other customers with a wide range of high-quality fabricated aluminum products,” said Chief Executive Jack A. Hockema.
Kaiser has a market value of about $1.25 billion.
In the past three years Kaiser has invested more than $250 million to grow its existing business.
This year the company has also announced an $80 million investment in its Kalamazoo, Mich., plant, as well as $14 million worth of expansions for its plants in Oklahoma, Texas and Washington.
