Allergan Gets Glaucoma Drug OK

Allergan Inc. received Food and Drug Administration approval for its Combigan eye drops for glaucoma, a year after regulators asked for an additional study on the drug.

The company has been selling Combigan in Europe, Canada, Australia and Brazil, where Allergan said it is doing well.

Combigan treats eye pressure in patients with glaucoma. It is a combination of Allergan’s Alphagan, already approved for glaucoma, and another medication to reduce pressure.

Allergan expects to start selling Combigan here during the quarter.

Late last year, the FDA gave Allergan an “approvable letter” for Combigan but said it needed more details before granting a final OK.
