Masimo Corp. today announced a new study revealing the potential cost-savings for hospitals that use its technologies to continuously monitor patients.
The findings, published in the Journal of Patient Safety, showed that Masimo’s Patient SafetyNet and Masimo SET Pulse Oximetry technologies helped reduce costs of between $350,000 to $409,000 a year by decreasing rescues and transfer events.
“This study clearly demonstrates that continuously monitoring all patients costs hospital systems less – not more – while solidly debunking the myth that cost remains a barrier to achieving the superior clinical outcomes associated with surveillance monitoring,” Masimo Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Cantillon said in a statement.
The study was conducted at Darthmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, covering three and a half years’ worth of data and analyzed nearly 32,000 patients.
Shares in Masimo were little changed at $143.55 apiece and a $7.7 billion market cap (Nasdaq: MASI).
