Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals Moving to Massachusetts

Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals Inc., a startup company that is developing treatments for hemophilia, said today that it will move its corporate headquarters from Laguna Niguel to Cambridge, Mass.

Inspiration said the move is part of its transition from a development-stage company to commercializing its products.

The company, which has financial backing from French drug maker Ipsen SA, has two drugs in development. Inspiration’s IB1001 is for people with congenital hemophilia B; its OBI-1is being tested for patients who are resistant to traditional treatments.

Inspiration was founded five years ago and based in Orange County, where former chief executive Michael Griffith previously ran a local company that made recombinant protein products. John Butler, a former executive with Genzyme Corp. in Cambridge, became the company’s chief executive in October.
