Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is venturing into the world of home health.
The Newport Beach-based health system, with $1.1 billion in annual revenue for the trailing 12 months ended Sept. 30, 2020, recently announced the launch of Hoag at Home.
The new offering aims to provide affordable at-home healthcare for the aging population via skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and medical social services.
“People are living and staying mobile longer, and there are more ways to allow people to age in place,” Chief Executive Robert Braithwaite said.
“Hoag at Home will be the trusted solution to keep our community healthy and safe.”
The home health division has over 100 team members, officials said. The unit will include hospice services, palliative care, and at-home physician visits, among others. More complex offerings such as private duty care, infusion services and medical equipment are expected to come online soon.
“Patients prefer to be treated at home if they can, and our services allow them to do that,” said Jeff Hammond, executive director of Hoag at Home.
Hammond was previously chief executive of home health, hospice, private duty, palliative care, and home infusion at Providence St. Joseph Health. He founded and owned of Sea Crest Home Health Services Inc. in Newport Beach.
